Obituary of Robert Freeland Dykes

DYKES, Robert (Bob) Freeland – Peacefully at Trillium Villa in Sarnia, on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 Robert left us in his 85th year.  His wife of 60 years, Brenda currently lives in Landmark Village. Bob was born in the town of Mount Royal, Quebec. After graduating from UNB he practiced law in Moncton, Hamilton (Stelco), and at his main position at Polysar Ltd.  Bob was a member of the General Counsel Association of Canada.  He finished his career in private practice and consulting from his home in Toronto. He enjoyed playing and watching hockey, travel, SCUBA diving, music, gardening and fly fishing. He leaves behind his children James of Toronto, Nancy Robinson of Exeter, David (Robin) of California, and Erika Power (Mike) of Etobicoke. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Rachel, Lauren, Kelly, and Ben. He is also survived by his sister Betty, his brother David and in-laws Maura and Rick Lebans of Grand Bend. Predeceased by his parents James and Jesse Dykes, his brother-in-law Bruce McCubbin, and beloved dog Buddy. Bob looked forward to each visit from Brenda, was very grateful for the final visits of his siblings and nieces. Laughter and good conversations with family were cherished. Bob’s family would like to thank Trillium Villa for their outstanding care and kindness for the past two years.  At Bob’s request, cremation has taken place, and no services will be held.
