Obituary of Rosily Erma Charbonneau

CHARBONNEAU, Rosily Erma – Peacefully, with her family by her side, Rosily died on Friday, March 1, 2024 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of Jack Charbonneau for 61 yrs.  Loving mother of Diane Wendel & her husband Burkhard, Germany and Michael Charbonneau & his wife Joanne, Wallaceburg.  Cherished grandmother of Cassandra  Charbonneau (Chris), Waterloo, Taylor Sparkman (Dillon), Michigan, Paige Charbonneau (Evan), Waterloo, Jacqueline Wendel and Laura Wendel (Patrick), Germany.  Great-grandmother of Amelia Wendel, Germany.  Dear sister of Melrose LeClair (Pete), Sarnia and Dionne Lee (Albert), Jamacia.  Sister-in-law of Robert Charbonneau, Sarnia.  She is predeceased by her parents Leo and Clarice Gardner and her Siblings Rupert, Theresa, Valerie, and Spencer.

 

Rosily was born on April 14, 1932 in Seaford Town, Westmoreland Jamaica. She immigrated to Canada in 1951 at the age of nineteen and settled in Sarnia, Ontario where she found work first as a housekeeper/nanny, then as a retail clerk. She spent the majority of her life as an industrious stay-at-home mom. She was very sensitive to everyone’s needs and was always preparing baked goods and meals for the needy, collecting food for the food bank, sewing baby quilts and skating costumes, etc. She was also an avid knitter, embroiderer, gardener and housekeeper. She is remembered for her kind and fun-loving nature and her ready smile. 

 

We thank the staff of Sumac Lodge and the palliative care unit of Blue Water Health and Dr. Barry for their kind and expert care.

 

Cremation has taken place.  A private interment will take place at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre Ltd.  As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Inn of the Good Shepherd, Sarnia, Ontario.
