Obituary of Daniela Mezzatesta

MEZZATESTA, Daniela – Suddenly at home, Daniela died on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the age of 57.  Beloved wife of Dani Mezzatesta for 32 years.  Loving daughter of Marisa and late Luigi Stirpe. Dear sister of Renzo Stirpe (Sherri Chopp), Sarnia and sister-in-law of Lynda Orlando, Sarnia and Lora Porter (Ron), Kitchener.  Daughter-in-law of Rosa and the late Tony Mezzatesta.  Cherished aunt to Ambar & Lexi Phillion, Melina & Giulio Stirpe, Sarnia and Michael Orlando, Toronto and Tara Porter, Vancouver. 

Daniela was a teacher and principal spanning 34 years for the Catholic School Board.  Her passion was education and the children.  She did everything for the love of the children. She left behind a legacy of love, education and community spirit. Daniela’s life was one of dedication and devotion.  She nurtured young minds with kindness and patience, leaving an indelible mark on the community. This nurturing was not only for children, but extended to her staff members as well.  She always gave that little extra nudge to help them further succeed, always striving for excellence. 

Daniela’s passions extended beyond the classroom, She was an avid gardener, reader and an amazing cook.  She thrived at planning parties, even if only for a small group.  She loved bringing her cooking skills to her staff as well.  This is what makes a family – she used to say.  Known for her warm welcoming kitchen. The events were always filled with fun, laughter, a generous spirit and captivating storytelling, with a great sense of humour – and sarcasm for those who knew her well.

Her thirst for knowledge, education, spirituality and the love of family is her legacy. Although she had a loving family, she always felt her students and staff were an extension of her family.  She would always put everyone else first above all else.  She will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by all who know and loved her.

Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Monday, March 4^th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday, March 5^th at 11 a.m.   Interment to follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to Noelle’s Gift to Children, P.O.
