Umberto Baldassarre

Obituary of Umberto Baldassarre

BALDASSARRE, Umberto (Robert) – Peacefully at University Hospital in London, with Kim, his loving wife of 32 years by his side, Umberto left us at the young age of 82.

He leaves behind his children Edia (Andrew), Pina and Remo. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Laura (Caleb) Ava (Spencer), Tyler (Melanie) and his two great-grandchildren, Nevaeh and Adriana. He is also survived by his brothers Alvaro (Theresa), Elio (Antonietta), and sister Rita as well as his sister-in-law Giovanna and brother-in-law Fernando. Predeceased by his parents Luigi and Carmela, siblings Maria, Armando, Stella, and Elena. He leaves many fond memories for several nieces and nephews, his in-law family, the Clingenpeels, and good friends including his fur baby, Luigi.

Umberto was the owner/operator of Robert’s Trucking for 40 plus years and took great pride in providing his services for Sarnia and the surrounding area. After retirement, he took great joy in his garden, especially his fruit trees as well as making wine for family gatherings. He had a great interest in swords, knives, and Italian soccer. He was a good cook with his specialty being a tasty pasta sauce.

He took great joy in celebrating birthdays with his singing phone calls that included the music of cow bells, bike horns and whistles. He loved practical jokes and disguising his voice whenever he called (like we couldn’t tell). Although he had a great time when out for a social event, his favourite place was his rocking chair in front of the tv and fireplace.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at University Hospital Neurology and MSICU, London for their compassionate and outstanding care during his time there.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Dante Club, 1330 London Rd., Sarnia on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 1-4 p.m.

Arrangements entrusted to the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 519-344-3131. Messages of condolence & memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com.
