Obituary of Paul Douglas Shoniker

SHONIKER, Paul – Paul died peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice with his family at his side on Monday, January 22, 2024 at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Rose-Marie (Haché) for 54 years. Dear father of Patrick (Lana Boyd) and Mark. Loving Papa to Mary-Jo. Brother of Sheila Armour (Al), Lynda Douglas (Robert), Michael Shoniker and Ann Gow (Bill). Brother-in-law of Louise Lucier and Yvon Haché (Peggy). Predeceased by parents Allan and Noreen Shoniker and father and mother-in-law Wilfred and Laurette Haché. Paul worked as a meat cutter at A&P at both the Christina St. and London Rd locations. He was involved and active in horse communities with miniature harness racing at Ridealgh Raceway on London Line. Paul loved to travel and he and his family made many trips all over North America. When he retired, he and Rose-Marie made trips to Europe and they enjoyed cruising. His family would like to thank Dr. Lebert, Dr. Lilly and the doctors and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice for their excellent care of Paul during his 2 stays there. They would also like to thank nurse Mandy from Bayshore Health for helping to look after Paul in his home. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 10 a.m. Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Joseph’s Hospice or the Canadian Diabetes Society.
