Obituary of Mae Conroy

CONROY, Mae (Duquette) - With deeply saddened hearts we announce the passing of Mae Conroy at Vision Nursing Home at daybreak on this beautiful Sunday morning August 16, 2015 at the age of 83. Devoted wife of husband, Kenneth Conroy for 63 years. Loving mother of Ken Conroy, Pembroke, ON, Rose (and Paul Stebbins), Barb (and Tim Mondoux), Wayne Conroy (and Nancy), and Chris Conroy (and Debbie) all of Point Edward. Proud grandmother of 19 grandchildren: Erin, Katie, Amy, Laura, Annie, Mike, Maria, Becky, Charlie, Carla, Mark, Anne, Dan, Joe, Sara, Doug, Kyle, Kevin and Korey, and 5 great grandchildren: Sofia, Gabriella, Olivia, Luca and Áine. Predeceased by parents Oscar and Josephine Duquette and siblings Joe and Frank Duquette, Marjorie Archambault and Sister Imelda Duquette, C.S.J. Mae was born May 11, 1932 and grew up in Chapeau, Quebec. After her marriage at age 20, Point Edward became her home. A respected elementary school teacher and an accomplished pianist, organist and music teacher, she would say her true calling was wife and mother. Family dinners throughout the years and vacations spent at the family cottage are memories we treasure. Mae embraced everyone she met with an uncommon kindness while her abiding faith guided her life. She possessed an oversized humanity, always seeing the good in people and had a way of making everyone feel special. A light has gone out in our lives and there will be a void which no amount of time can fill. Nothing will ever be as sweet, as special or as sparkly without her. How blessed we have been and how thankful we are to have had her in our lives. Visitation will be held at McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with prayers being offered at 3:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Steve Savell at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 10 a.m. Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
